New 2010 Chevrolet Colorado

 2010 Chevrolet Colorado

General Motors has big plans for the mid-size pickup market, the General is currently hard at work on the next-generation of both the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon. The current generation Colorado/Canyon is slated to end production by mid-2012.

GM is likely to base the next-gen pickup on the GMI 700 body-on-frame global small truck platform. Those bones are set to get an unveil at this year’s Thailand International Motor Show in Bangkok.

 2010 Chevrolet Colorado

GM had originally planned to dead-end Colorado and Canyon production altogether after this generation, but those plans seem to have changed. Even so, it looks like it’ll be at least two and a half years before the newest versions of the General Motors mid-size pickup shows up, which means there may be a bit of a gap in production between the time the old line dies and the new one gets up and running.

New Marcus Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Sells Out – in Three Minutes

Neiman Marcus is a high-end luxury catalog with a diverse range of clients that are ready to purchase its products at the drop of the hat.

That is true even in the automotive segment. Every year, the catalog works with a manufacturer to provide a product going into the year-end Christmas season.

Last year, it was an exclusive version of the new Jaguar XJ. With only 50 available, it sold out in four hours and four minutes. We thought that was impressive – but for 2010 the Camaro Convertible handily beats that.

There was 100 models of the Camaro Convertible available, and they all sold in three minutes. Whoa – that’s quick. BMW’s special edition M6 sold out 50 units in 2006 in one minute and 32 seconds. Phone lines for ordering the $75,000 Camaro opened a few hours after it made an appearance on the NBC Today Show.

So what does $75,000 get you over a standard Camaro Convertible? An exclusive Deep Bordeaux (a Neiman Marcus staple) paint, along with ”ghosted” rally stripes, a matching color fabric top, windshield frame in silver and 21-inch alloy wheels with red accents.

As far as powertrain, as it based on the SS model, you get a 6.2-liter V-8 with either a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission. Delivery begins in Spring of 2011 like the standard car – there isn’t any early bonus delivery for ordering though Neiman Marcus.

Base LS models come with cloth seats, reception, Bluetooth, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone manual air conditioning, and a wide range of power options. LT models add leather upholstery, front seats, automatic climate control and remote start with a number of useful features. Topping the field is LTZ, including heated and cooled front seats, eight-speaker Bose sound system, 20-inch alloy wheels and a navigation system.
The interior of the Chevrolet Avalanche is all luxury Suburban to the dashboard and the amount of available upscale amenities. Normal static wall between the second row bench can be opened again to the normal five foot, three-inch floor, eight meters, two centimeters respectively.

Chicago 2011: 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Packs 550bhp!

There’s good news and bad news. The bad news first: there is no Camaro Z/28. We’ve been referring to the upcoming super Camaro as the Z/28 pretty much as long as we’ve been hearing about it, which makes sense in a historical context considering the first Z/28′s were competition homologation models to allow the Camaro to race in the Trans-Am race series. With a high-compression 302ci V8 that would wind out to 7,000+rpm and with dual 4bbl carbs would spit out about 400 horsepower, it was the easiest way to go from the showroom floor to the racetrack back then.

It turns out that Chevy was going to reference an even rarer Camaro with the latest (and arguably greatest) edition of the Camaro so far: the ZL-1. Back in the day, the ZL-1 was the craziest damn Camaro you could order, and very few did. Under the hood was a 427ci big-block rendered in all aluminum, strong and light and crazy powerful. That engine was rated at 430 gross horsepower – underrated, but still probably 400+ in net horsepower.

The new ZL-1 may not use components quite as exotic as that aluminum 427 – which was rumored to cost GM $4,000 per engine, back in the late 60′s – but it’ll certainly be faster. The most important thing about the new ZL-1 can be explained in three letters: LSA. And no, that’s not the Lesbian Scouting Association, it’s the GM internal code for the 6.2L supercharged V8 that can be found under the hood of the Cadillac CTS-V. It’s been transplanted from the big Caddy to the meanest of the new Camaros to great effect. The important numbers are as follows: 550 horsepower, 550 lb-ft of torque. Those are the preliminary numbers, as GM has yet to actually finalize the ZL-1′s output, but considering the CTS-V puts out 556 and 551, it seems reasonable barring differences in intake and exhaust lengths.

This is the same LSA in the CTS-V, meaning it’s a glorious mix of old and new technology wrapped up in a maximum-strength dose of horsepower. Based on the 6.2L LS3 found in the regular Camaro SS, the LSA adds an Eaton TVS 4-lobe supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, hypereutectic pistons, oil squirters, aluminum heads, etc etc. It’s backed up by the same Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual as in the SS, but beefed up to deal with the extra power and equipped with short-shift linkage for faster shifts. The clutch is a twin-disc unit to deal with all the power, and the driveshaft and differential are both revised for extra strength. Want an automatic? Too bad. Topping it all off is a dual-mode exhaust, presumably like the type used on Corvettes and the VW R32 with a solenoid-controlled flap that opens to let the full sound out past a certain rpm. I bet it’s going to sound good.

Thankfully, Chevrolet didn’t just slap a supercharger on an SS and call it a day (or ZL-1, as it were.) The suspension has been giving a serious makeover to make sure the grip is up to the level of the grunt. On this end, the ZL-1 gets the Magna-Ride (magnetorheological, for the nerds) dampers used in Cadillacs and Corvettes (as well as the Ferrari 599, I might add) that continually adjust their damping rates to road conditions. The drop links for the rear sway bar are moved outside of the control arms for increased responsiveness in cornering, and while the press release doesn’t mention anything it’s likely the ZL1 will ride lower down on stiffer springs than the regular SS. Rolling stock is equally impressive, with lightweight forged 20″ alloys at each corner shod in sticky Goodyear Eagle Supercar F2 tires. The brakes are also huge, with 14.6″ two-piece front rotors clamped by a 6-piston caliper up front and 14.4″ rotors clamped by a 4-piston caliper at rear, co-developed with Brembo (of course.)

So that covers the going, turning, and stopping. What differentiates the ZL-1 from a normal Camaro? Most obvious is the domed hood, which is there to clear the supercharger/intercooler assembly. The hood itself is aluminum, while the supercharger bulge is carbon fibre. There are vertical foglights with a brake duct integrated into the surround, and a new front splitter on the bumper, while the rear gets a new bumper with a diffuser element. But mostly, if you’re trying to decide whether or not to race that Camaro at the stoplight from the seat of your Evo, you should probably go by the wheels and the hood bulge. You’ve been warned.

Other details that make the ZL-1 a nicer place to spend time than the SS can be found in the interior. There are microsuede inserts on the seats to keep your kiester in place, a new steering wheel, aluminum accents, and one of the gauges in the 4-gauge “performance pack” is now a boost readout. Sadly, it’s at the front of the shift console making it virtually impossible to see while you’re actually driving, but it’s better than nothing!

Chevrolet says the ZL-1 will be hitting dealerships at the beginning of 2012, and it’ll be available in any color you can buy a standard Camaro in. I suppose this means they’re going to be making more than 69 of them, which was the total production count of the original ZL-1. And unlike the original, of which the engine option was more expensive than a base Camaro itself, you can expect that the Camaro ZL-1 will likely be priced competitively with it’s largest competitors, the Dodge Challanger SRT-8 392 and the Shelby Mustang GT500, meaning somewhere around $45k, most likely. It’s a great time to be a muscle car enthusiast, isn’t it?

New 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

The Los Angeles International Auto Show is coming up just next week and Chevrolet has picked the show as the perfect place to launch the new Camaro Convertible. Where better than sunny Los Angeles?

Chevy spaced out introduction of the convertible model to keep up interest in the Camaro, which has sold impressively since its debut. It even came close to beating the Mustang in the sales race last year, but has since fallen behind.

The Mustang has always had the benefit of a convertible model to increase appeal as well, while the Camaro and Challenger have been coupe-only.

That is about to change – and we can already see the Mustang convertible vs. Camaro convertible comparison tests being lined up for next summer.

The new photos aren’t exactly high-resolution, being put up on Chevy’s Facebook page. After hearing so much about it though, the car has finally been completely revealed in full production guise.

We weren’t exactly waiting with baited breath to see it though, given pictures we’ve seen previously from Chevy and Neimain Marcus. The Neiman Marcus special edition model sold out in just 3 minutes.

The important thing to glean from these pictures is that the Camaro Convertible looks great with both its top up and down. That is no small thing, as many convertibles can look awkward with their top up.

We’re looking forward to seeing it out on the streets next spring. It starts at $30,000 for the base model V-6 and will be available at launch in SS guise, powered by GM’s 6.2-liter V-8.

New Chevrolet Volt Built In Under 2 Minutes

Hanks GM's Hype Machine, we heard about the Volt for a long time. Actually, it is almost non-stop range, was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in 2007.
But his coming is very soon - began production and will be ramping up over the next few months to deliver.

The General Assembly will take place at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant and the entire process of building Volt caught on video.

amazing sight to see the high-tech Volt is built on the same line, along with a very old GM's Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucurne. Time-lapse photography, we see it all happened just two minutes.

New Chevrolet Debuts Two Camaro Super Bowl Ads

There is a lot of money spent in advertising – in fact, reports peg marketing spending at $612 billion a year, and researchers estimate the average American is exposed to some 3000 advertisements every day.

The Super Bowl XLV, coming up Sunday, is the most expensive day of the year for advertising. With the chance to make a big splash before what is likely to be over 106 million Americans, auto manufacturers are working to bring out their best.

Chevrolet is making up for its recent lack of Super Bowl participation big time this year. Eight – yes eight – different spots will be run. Two ads run pre-game, five during the game and one during the post-game show. They focus on some of Chevy’s most important products – the Camaro, Cruze Eco, Silverado HD and the Volt.

Chevy is looking to win the day against a host of other automakers competing for attention: Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and Kia. industry players like Ford, Honda and Toyota have opted to stay out of this year’s Super Bowl advertising. Ahead of the game, Chevrolet has released two of its Super Bowl ads featuring the Camaro. You can check them out below.

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Production Begins

With all the the hype surrounding the Chevrolet Camaro, the news has been nonstop, continuing steady before and after launch. That momentum has given it an edge over the Ford Mustang in the 2010 sales race, and its image has been a strong help to the Chevrolet brand.

Sales uccess looks to continue into 2011, with the addition of a new performance variant likely to happen at next week’s Chicago Auto Show. Notable is the fact that the Camaro has posted impressive numbers without the addition of a convertible variant.

Well that is about to change – the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible has just gone into production today at General Motors’ Oshawa, Canada factory.

The car will be available with your choice of a black or tan soft top and the convertible adds standard parking assist. Interesting, and a good addition – visibility isn’t one of the new Camaro’s strong points.

We think a retractable hardtop Camaro is a neat possibility for the future, but with the car’s weight level already high it would likely push it past the 4500 pound mark.

The Camaro Convertible is set to go on sale in Canada and the United States next month. Previously announced pricing information pegs the car starting at the $30,000 mark fort he V-6 1LT model. Upgrading to a V-8 1SS model will set you back $37,500.

New 2012 Chevrolet Sonic

With gas prices at a low level and improve the economy, sales of SUVs and crossovers on. This car does not stop the publication of the whole group of new compact and subcompact cars, though.
The subcompact segment in particular is set to larger and populated than ever, with manufacturers who want to position themselves for future growth in natural gas prices.

Ford is a major player in this segment with its much-hyped Fiesta. General Motors' entry, Aveo, it was very competitive for most of its life cycle.

Updates in 2007 to help improve things on the Daewoo-source model, but it was clear that more was needed. Enter the new Sonic, all new vehicles.
GM has considered the name of the car Aveo show how different the new car is really changing. There is certainly no confusion between the two. While the Aveo is boring and unobtrusive style, Sonic said.
The layout is almost like the concept, high waist line lines and bold allusions to the presence of substantial stress design. Car looks well built and Chevrolet is said that a design that pushes the wheels to the corners to search .. global network of Chevrolet and is equipped with "motorcycle-inspired lamps" on the front.

Overall the car is designed to look more and more expensive than it is, and the effort failed. The message is you do not sacrifice design on a subcompact car. This time the sedan model gets the short end of the stick too much, because the design of the same amount of attention both inside and outside.
Insights into the interior is really back to Chevrolet. Usually mild and interior is out, and attention to detail is in.
There is also a modern center console, two-tone design and a new Chevrolet steering wheel. The governor is a big difference in interior and a new Chevrolet is one of our favorites. It was the first exhibition in the production version of the Volt.

The coolest feature, although the device - it is an asymmetrical design with a round analogue speedometer and LCD digital speedometer.

Sonic the powertrain is shared with Cruz. The standard is GM's Ecotec 1.8-liter 135 horsepower and the 123 foot pounds of torque makes. The optional 1.4-liter Ecotec compressor Cruz. It seems that only three more horsepower than standard engines, but has more than 25 foot pounds of torque.

One of the most interesting fact about Sonic is the fact that the suspension engineers in the Corvette. Chevrolet says that Sonic is the only subcompact to offer built in the U.S..

Sonic the company Orion, Michigan assembly. The factory was recently awarded 545 million U.S. dollars investment in upgrading and conversion to production of Sonic. Sonic had a subcompact going on sale this year, focusing on the new Ford Focus and Hyundai Elantra.

New Chevrolet Orlando 2.0 VCDi

What is it?

This is Chevrolet’s entry into the hard-fought European market for compact seven-seat MPVs. Or, to look at it another way, it’s a Korean-designed and Korean-built Astra-based people carrier.

Although its boxy, faux-SUV styling suggests otherwise, the Orlando is just 4.6m long. Inside it has seatbelts for seven, with the third row made up of two individual seats that can be folded flat into the floor.

Chevrolet Orlando 2.0 VCDi 163 LT:Chevrolet’s entry into the hard-fought European market for compact seven-seat MPVs

The middle bench seat has a 40/20 split fold and an adjustable backrest angle. With the back of the bench folded flat, the Orlando offers a virtually flat load bay through to the front seats, though it’s not very deep.

There’s a choice of three engines, when the Orlando goes on sale next spring. The entry-level unit is a 139bhp 1.8 petrol, followed by a de-tuned 128bhp 2.0-litre turbo diesel and the full-fat, 161bhp, 2.0-litre turbo diesel.

Chevrolet Orlando 2.0 VCDi 163 LT:Chevrolet’s entry into the hard-fought European market for compact seven-seat MPVs

The petrol engine gets a five-speed manual ‘box, the diesel a six-speed. A six-speed auto’ is also optional on the diesel.

Prices start at £16,395 for the 1.8 Orlando in base LS spec (which includes air-con, six airbags, remote locking and an adjustable steering wheel). The entry diesel model costs £17,695. The range-topper diesel auto’ LTZ Executive (which gets sat-nav, leather and heated seats) costs £23,195.

Chevrolet Orlando 2.0 VCDi 163 LT:Chevrolet’s entry into the hard-fought European market for compact seven-seat MPVs

What’s it like?

Although the Orlando is based on the same Delta platform as the Astra, it feels a size bigger. The cockpit is roomy, with plenty of shoulder space and the steeply sloping centre console presents the controls at very useable angle. The gear lever and handbrake are also particularly well-placed.

Chevrolet Orlando 2.0 VCDi 163 LT:Chevrolet’s entry into the hard-fought European market for compact seven-seat MPVs

Aside from the ubiquitous mega-cupholders between the front seats there’s a small console bin and the very clever cubbyhole hidden behind the stereo’s fascia, which pivots up and over for access.

Middle row passengers get decent knee and headroom, while the third row has headroom for adults but child-only legroom. Plastic quality in the cockpit is pretty good, but rather more prosaic in the cabin and boot.

Chevrolet Orlando 2.0 VCDi 163 LT:Chevrolet’s entry into the hard-fought European market for compact seven-seat MPVs

Overall, though, the Orlando feels robustly and honestly constructed. Inside, it doesn’t disguise its role as a family workhorse, even if the exterior – with its eye-catching grille design and brash detailing – suggests something more engaging.

Although the Orlando is hardly about pure driving pleasure, the range contains a big surprise. The 1.8 petrol unit is quite smooth and decently refined, but would probably be marginal will a full compliment of passengers. The 1.4-litre petrol turbo due later next year will be a better bet.

However, potential Orlando buyers should look no further than the 2.0-litre diesel engine, especially when hooked up to the six-speed autobox.

Chevrolet Orlando 2.0 VCDi 163 LT:Inside it has seatbelts for seven, with the third row made up of two individual seats

This engine – in stark contrast to the unit fitted to the Insignia - is refined, punchy and smooth and well matched to the slick six-speed manual. But it’s also particularly impressive in conjunction with the autobox.

According to Orlando vehicle line director Wilhelm Reinheimer, this ‘Family Z’ engine is a Korean design, based on an old Euro IV-compatible unit, but extensively re-engineered. He also says that the Korean expertise with automatic transmissions is the reason for the unusually slick pairing of a diesel and torque converter auto.

Otherwise, the Orlando has a quiet cabin and it runs straight and true at motorway speeds. It’s not exactly a driver’s car, but it resists body roll well even if the steering loses weight and feel on longer bends.

On the Spanish test roads it also rode well, though poor surfaces were mostly absent. The severe Spanish anti-speeding ridges did, though, resound through the structure, so we’d have to reserve judgment until we get the car on UK roads.

Should I buy one?

If you prefer the unconventional looks of Orlando compared to the sloping-nose conventionality of the opposition, the Chevy offers significant advantage for the private buyer.

Chevy’s ‘5-year Promise’ gives you five years’ warranty, servicing and roadside assistance. You are even insured against the car failing its first and second MOTs.

In diesel auto form, the Orlando is particularly easy and willing and it would make a very relaxing and useful family wagon. However, base diesel form, especially with 5-year back-up plan, offers a tempting mix for the private buyer.

New Chevrolet Corvette Stingray pictures

Collection of cool Chevrolet Corvette Stingray sports cars including a few concept cars thrown in for good measure. Hope you like them!

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has got to me one of my favorite cars but they are very hard to get hold of and I can imagine the car insurance would be eye watering, not to mention the petrol consumption!
